Overview
From Uncertainty to Opportunity: Design Futures that Matter.
Why do current innovations have unintended consequences? Why is short-termism preached, and why are we dismissing alternative approaches to innovation? And: how can we rethink innovation to inspire real change–not as a way of prolonging the status quo.
This two-day workshop introduces critical futures and foresight, providing innovators and change makers with methods and frameworks to discern transformational shifts. Learn to identify long-term consequences—and harvest opportunities arising from societal challenges, to shape humanity’s future lifeworlds.
This foundational class places great emphasis on rigorous imagination and mastering theory—helping you challenge popular assumptions, overcome inertia, debunk hype. You will learn to embrace uncertainty, to conceive of future visions for wholly new modes of life, best realised by transformational innovation.
Guided by experts, you’ll move from exploring Megatrends and speculative scenarios, to designing better choices. By differentiating technology from disruption, you’ll grasp the economics driving truly radical innovation and apply reliable mechanisms to inform robust change—by design.
